On a Saturday in March our team had the opportunity to celebrate our first Mitzvah with our client, Julian, and his family! Julian’s family traveled in from all over the world (yes, world!) to celebrate this special time in his life. “A bar mitzvah or bat mitzvah is a ceremonial recognition that a young person has reached the age when he or she is no longer a minor according to Jewish law and thereby will begin to take on new privileges and responsibilities as they approach adulthood,” shared Julian’s Bar Mitzvah Program. While at his ceremony Julian was able to publicly read from the Torah, and perform with his family and friends special rituals to commemorate the occasion.

After their meaningful ceremony, Julian and his family gathered at the Boulder Country Club to have the best birthday party a teenage boy could dream up! Guests were greeted with music, neon balloons, and Slurp Juice (a bright blue mocktail). The futuristic, video-game inspired decor made the whole place light up! DJ Tom West kept the teenage guests entertained all evening with great music, lights, games and entertainment.

After guests enjoyed a delicious buffet, the group turned their attention to a big screen to view a touching slideshow of videos and photos from Julian’s childhood, created by his mother, Jessica. Featured were many photos of Julian with family and friends in attendance. It was such a joy to watch Julian’s people remember these fond times together!

Before everyone got too misty-eyed, it was time for The Hora! The Hora is the traditional dance where family and friends gather in circles around the special kid, hold hands, and sing Hava Nagila! Julian was quickly lifted into the air on a chair in the middle of the circle while his guests clapped and sang along! Not long after, his mother, father and other members of the family were also hoisted up to celebrate! A photobooth, an ice cream sundae bar, and light-up dance party wands kept the party going all evening! It was a night to remember!!
