As a wedding planner/designer and former Art & Art History student, I love getting a little creative! Like many others, I’m constantly browsing Instagram, Pinterest, etc for brand new inspiration! I came across milk bath photography - primarily for maternity shoots - quite a while back! I had long dreamed of creating some sort of bridal milk bath shoot but the idea kept slipping my mind, or the timing wasn’t quite right!
Finally, when the amazing Diana Coulter asked me to collaborate on a light and bright bridal shoot this Fall I saw my opportunity! As one of Diana’s brides & our second model for the day was getting hair and makeup done, my incredible friend & frequent model Cassi Hoven helped bring my milk bath vision to life!
So how did we pull this off? Milk baths aren’t actually milk, but primarily water! It only took a few gallons of milk to create the hue of white we wanted to achieve and The Crawford Hotel’s claw foot tub was the perfect vessel. We got Cassi a gorgeous white bodysuit and robe to wear and slowly began adding petals, slices of blood oranges and pink lemons, and full floating flowers and leaves to the bath. The results were breathtaking and bordering on boudoir while still remaining very feminine and classy!
It only took a few hours to pull off the first part of this shoot and most of that time was for hair and makeup! With an incredible & excited team, no idea is too big, too crazy, or too “out there!” Thank you to the dream team!
