When starting out as a new entrepreneur, there’s a lot of stress, loneliness, “fake it til you make it,” and self doubt! I very much had my family’s support, but it was still hard to feel like I was going through this journey alone, as excited as I was to start! As time progressed, I fell more and more in love with the work itself and the flexibility that comes with it! I became comfortable with the status quo, and implementing big changes, like bringing on more team members, was far from my mind.
If you were to ask me WHAT could change my mind about the direction of my company, I would never have anticipated Covid being the answer! ;)
With plans cancelled all over the world, I got a message from a wonderful girl looking for a replacement internship (traveling to Spain was a no go)! I had never had an intern, and didn’t particularly know where to start, but with all the time in the world on our hands we jumped in! I very quickly realized how exciting it was to have a partner in crime, and at the end of the Summer that wonderful girl (SAYLOR!) joined the team! However, I was once again getting very comfortable with the status quo, and once again, had no intention of growing my company! ;)
Fast forward to Summer 2021, with Saylor and I working just about 25 hours a day! In the span of a few months, we very quickly met and worked with Jonathan & Sarah before adding them to the team as well! The process was chaotic (post Covid weddings are a trip), but also very organic, and after only a few events I felt as if I had a real connection with these people that I had just met! I thank my lucky stars every day for having them in my life, and I’ve decided that there’s no such thing as status quo! Life is full of twists and turns, and I guarantee I will always be “faking it til I make it,” but I have all the support in the world!
